Obituary of Phillip John Miller, Sr.

Phillip John Miller, Sr. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. Phillip J. Miller, Sr., age 74, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born on June 13, 1949 in Erie, the son of the late Leo and Olive Evans Miller. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Leo Miller, Jr, one sister Kathy Stadler, his brother-in-law Fred Stadler, and his mother and father-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife Karen whom he married 47 years ago on October 30, 1976. He is also survived by his two sons; Phillip Miller, Jr. (Kerge) and Jeffrey Miller (Michelle) and two daughters; Heather Miller-Becker (Neil) and Kristy Miller-Keith (Erik), seven grandchildren: Roy Laughery (Brittany), Preston Becker, Seth Miller, Adryanna Miller, Braylon Miller, Hunter Keith, and Oliver Keith, and three great-grandchildren. Phil attended McDowell H.S. and retired from Smith Meter Co. after 30 years of service due to health conditions. Phil was a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. In his younger years, he loved bowling, hunting, Corvettes, ride roller coasters, watching the Price is Right and his love of coffee. He also had many nick names: Red-Uncle Der, Bobby, and Fabio. Red was the one that went with his personality the best. He was the quietest in the room, but if you made him mad, look out! His greatest joy was his family which included his wife Karen who was the love of his life and also his caretaker for many years. Friends are invited to call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 2 pm until the time of the Funeral Service there at 4 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or to the National MS Society, 2115 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
