Obituary of Dorothy Jane (D.J.) Nehr Preedit

Dorothy Jane (D.J.) Nehr Preedit Dorothy Jane Preedit, age 99, of Fairview, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Erie on August 16, 1924, the daughter of the late Adam J. and Ethel Forbes Nehr. D.J. had been the office manager for Lake Erie Bumper Plating for 30 years. She was a past “Optimist of the Year” and was a member of the Welcome Club of Erie. She enjoyed her many Bridge groups, gardening, reading, handywork, cooking, and entertaining. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Walter Preedit in 2000, one son, Walter A. Preedit, II in 2000, one sister Marion Pardini in 2000, and two brothers; Adam Nehr and Charles Nehr. She is survived by two grandsons; Paul Preedit and Robert Preedit (Erin), and her best friend of 55 years, Alice Adler. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 147 West 24th Street, Erie, PA 16502 on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 10 am. Inurnment Erie Cemetery. All arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Zoological Society, PO BOX 3268, 423 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
