Obituary of Richard Dewey Onorato

Richard Dewey Onorato Richard D. Onorato, age 83, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on July 3, 1940, the son of the late Raymond and Lillian Petachi Onorato. He was a 1960 graduate of McDowell H.S. Richard was self employed for many years in the construction business and owned a number of small businesses in Erie. He later became an agent for Prudential Ins. until his retirement and then he became manager of the VFW Post 470 where he was a life time member of their auxiliary. Richard enjoyed playing cards and pool, horseshoes, and later enjoyed the casino. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Jean Thompson (Marshall), Geraldine Thompson (Hancel), Linda Griffith (Albert), four brothers: infant brother James, Raymond Onorato (Janice), Charles Onorato, Donald Onorato (Harriet), and one great grandson Jayvon. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Patricia “Patty” Sliker Onorato, one daughter Tonia L. Suprynowicz (Scott), three sons; Keith A. Onorato (Maggie), Kevin C. Onorato (Theresa), James R. Onorato, one sister Doris Ferry, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his grand puppy dog Coco, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 3 pm until 7 pm and are invited there on Monday, January 15, 2024 for the funeral service at 12 Noon. Interment Erie County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
