Obituary of Kathryn S. Torok

Kathryn S. Torok Kathy S. (Butts) Torok, 64, of Erie, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Kathy was born December 2, 1959, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald A. Butts and Carroll J. Kibler. She moved to Fairview, Pennsylvania at a young age and thereafter became a lifelong resident of Millcreek Township. She attended Fairview High School where she graduated in 1978. Kathy married Joseph M. Torok on June 14, 1980. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage where they were blessed with two children. Kathy carried a passion for many things including landscape design. She was fortunate to spend a majority of her career supporting her customers and friends, first, at Lynwood Nursery and then at Stan's Garden Center West. She loved training her dogs Jeter and Jax, taking long walks with her husband and traveling to North Carolina to visit her children and grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Chiefs, watching the horse races at the casino and surprising everyone with her luck at playing the lottery. She was known for her sense of humor, and you could always count on sharing a good laugh with her. Kathy was also an auxiliary member of Erie Elks Lodge 67. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents Edward A. and Marian J. (Kelty) Kibler, uncles Bill W. Bennett and Wilber M. Butts (Marjorie), mother-in-law Ann J. Torok, and brothers-in-law Michael J. Loeslein, Randy J. Torok and Michael P. McCafferty. Kathy will be greatly missed by many including her husband Joseph M. Torok; her daughter Jaime A. Cupps (Craig) of Holly Springs, North Carolina; her son Joseph R. Torok (Gloria) of Sanford, North Carolina; her two beautiful grandchildren Grayson and Charley Cupps; her sisters Colleen Loeslein, Sandy Venable (Scott), Tracy LaRoche (Mary), Christine Ruland (Mark), and her favorite Aunt Patricia Bennett. She also leaves to cherish her memory, sisters-in-law Gina McCafferty and Tina Torok, brother-in-law Frank Torok (Pam), many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as close friends Mary Porreco and Susan Flick. Friends and family are invited to gather on Sunday, February 18th at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, 4216 Sterrettania Road from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Burial will take place at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery on West Lake Road, Erie.
