Robert “Bob” Paul Jackson
Robert “Bob” Paul Jackson, age 81, of Erie, PA, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Shady Side Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, after a brief illness. Bob was born on April 2, 1942, in Corry, Pennsylvania, to the late Eugene and Mary (Turko) Jackson. In 1963, Bob married the love of his life, Wanda Jean Gibbons, and they shared 60 and a half wonderful years together until his passing. His last words to his wife were, “You’re beautiful.”
A graduate of Corry High School in 1956, Bob furthered his education at Williamsport Technical School. He went on to become the Vice President and co-owner of Lake Peterbilt and Lake Erie Ford.
Bob and Jean had two children, Susan and Brian, and three grandsons, Jeremy, Josh, and Cory. Bob found his greatest joy in the company of his family. An avid photographer, he was often seen taking pictures at his grandsons’ sporting events. Together with Jean, Bob loved to travel and spent winters in Naples, Florida
Bob thrived on adventure, particularly through motorcycle rides in the Allegheny National Forest. He and his friends built the motorcycle trails in Marienville, PA, for the National Forest Service, which remain in use today. Additionally, Bob was a private pilot and said he felt free when flying.
A master craftsman, Bob possessed the remarkable ability to build and repair anything. Among his greatest joys were passing on his skills to his grandsons, teaching them the intricacies of car maintenance, motorcycle riding, and woodworking. His goal was to teach them everything he knew. His latest endeavors included remodeling his home, crafting all the cabinetry, and restoring his beloved T-Bucket.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, including his wife, Wanda Jean; daughter, Susan Herman, and her husband, Scot; grandsons, Cory Herman of New York City, Jeremy Herman and his wife, Danielle, of Erie, and Josh Herman and his girlfriend, McKenna Kaye, of Erie. He is also survived by his sister, Luetta Jones, of Wattsburg.
