Siddhartha “Sid” Vasey

Siddhartha “Sid” Vasey, age 54, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at her residence after an Extremely Courageous and extended illness with ovarian cancer. She was born on January 2, 1970 in Hampton, VA, the daughter of Bill and Mary Grugin and Rick Vasey.

Sid was a 1988 graduate of McDowell H.S. where she excelled in soccer and track and field. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Gannon University and attained her Master’s degree from George Washington University. She was employed at Northrop Grumman, General Electric, and finally was an IT Project Manager with Erie Insurance. She was passionate about youth sports and was very involved in growing youth lacrosse in the Erie area. Beginning in 2018, she served as the middle school director for the Millcreek Middle School program. She continued on to hold nearly every position on the Board of Directors of McDowell Trojan Lacrosse Booster Club, including the role of President from 2019-2021. There was nothing she loved more than sitting in the stands and cheering on Jacob. She also enjoyed photography, art, and writing. Besides her parents, she is survived by her son Jacob Emery, two brothers; Paul and David Grugin, and many special friends. Sid had many beloved pets Nya, Kya, Shadow and Boo as well as the “JJ brothers” (Jack and Joshua).

Private services were held at the convenience of the family. All arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie. A special Service of Remembrance will be announced at a later time for family and friends.
