Douglas A. Barnett


Douglas Arnold Barnett, aged 81, passed away on August 26, 2024 in Pittsburgh, PA, following a brief illness. He had been a resident at Sarah Reed Senior Living in Erie, PA since 2019, but lived most of his adult life in Nashville, TN. He was born on January 7, 1943 in Hagerstown, MD, and married his college sweetheart, Dalene Barnett, in 1967. They were married for 45 years until her passing in 2013.


Doug devoted much of his life to serving others through his pastoral work. He ministered to churches in the United Brethren in Christ denomination throughout the Midwest from 1979 to 1987 and continued his service as a pastor and worship leader within the Nazarene denomination in Nashville, TN until 1999.


Doug was a graduate of Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, where he nurtured his passion for theology and pastoral care. He also attended Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Known for his kind and loving nature, Doug had a good sense of humor that endeared him to many.


He is survived by his daughter, Diana Jones; son, Dan Barnett and his wife Christy; five grandchildren: Maegan Bailey, Justin Jones, Kelsey, Lauren, and Tucker Barnett; and three great-grandchildren. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Eleanor Barnett, and his beloved wife, Dalene Barnett.


A funeral service will be held on September 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Rd., Erie, PA. The family will welcome guests from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
