Marian Elizabeth (Petruso) Bergamasco Marian Elizabeth Petruso Bergamasco, age 84 of Erie, Pa, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at St. Vincent Health Center after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family. Marian was born on October 19, 1939, in Meadville, Pa, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Salvia) Petruso. Marian married F. Arthur Bergamasco on September 17, 1960. They lived in Meadville until December 1980, when they moved to Erie Pennsylvania. Marian was a 1957 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School and attended Edinboro University. She worked in the purchasing department at Talon, Inc., and was also a medical transcriptionist and medical coder at Spencer Hospital in Meadville until 1980. She continued her career at Metro Health Center as a coder until her retirement and the closing of Metro Health Center. After her retirement she spent time volunteering at Hooked on Books at the Erie Art Center and Kid’s Café at the Inner-City Neighborhood Art House. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she enjoyed her Bible Study Group. She later became a member of the St. Jude Roman Catholic Church where she enjoyed helping with the Spaghetti Dinner. At the center of her universe was her fierce love for her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Marian enjoyed watching their school activities, including dance recitals, plays, and sporting events. Always on the lookout for their well-being and happiness, she celebrated their accomplishments as passionately as she offered her compassionate concern and support throughout every milestone and circumstance life brought. She was the quintessential Italian grandmother that could be counted on to keep holiday traditions alive. Cookie making and the Feast of the Seven Fishes were annual activities she hosted at her home each year. She cherished family time the most and took advantage of every opportunity to create memories at home or on family vacations, especially to places like Oak Island, North Carolina. In addition to enjoying boating on Lake Erie with her late husband, Art, she always fondly remembered the beloved 40th anniversary trip that she took with Art to Italy in 2000, just a year before he passed away. Marian continued to be active after retirement and was a devoted exercise enthusiast who regularly attended yoga and Zumba classes. Her active social life included regular outings with her girlfriends, attending theater performances with her daughters, Karen and Kim, and traveling to St. Augustine, Florida to visit her son, Greg, and his family. Marian enjoyed leisure time with her long-time companion, Guy Costa of Meadville. They loved going to the movies together, cooking Italian favorites, and attending family events. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Art Bergamasco of 42 years and her sister, Madeline Cappellino. Survivors include two daughters Karen Bergamasco (Mark Zimmer), Kim Crotty (Dennis), and son Greg Bergamasco (Amanda). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Adam Reusche (Sarah), Aaron Reusche (Sanjana Nuthakki), Alex Ruler (Bonnie Walton), Katie Crotty (Alex Carpenter), Kyle Crotty (McKenna Sterrett), Mia Bergamasco, and great grandchildren, Louise Reusche, Frank Reusche, Lily Carpenter, and Amilia Carpenter. She is further survived by her sister Shirley (Petruso) Goss, and many nieces and nephews.
