Obituary of Audrey Marie Zurick Callista

Audrey Marie Zurick Callista Audrey M. Callista, age 91, of Meadville, formerly of Millcreek Township, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Audrey was born in Erie on May 31, 1933 to the late Frank and Helen Respecki Zurick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Callista, Jr. Audrey was employed by the County of Erie as the secretary to District Judge Kathryn Pohl for 20 years before going to work as a receptionist and switchboard operator until her retirement in 2007. Audrey was an avid reader, birder, and puzzler, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Prior to her membership at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, she was deeply involved in many activities and outreach programs in the community as well as at St. George Parish, where she was also a sacristan. Audrey is survived by her children, Penny (Martin) Guelcher, Mark Callista, and Debby (Joseph) Nash, all of Erie. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 2801 West 6th St. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:00 am. Private burial will take place at a later date.
