Eleanor Jean Simpson
Eleanor Jean Simpson, age 83, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Isabella’s Place in Georgetown, TX. She had suffered a stroke in August of 2023 and was taken to Texas to be cared for by her daughter Deborah Antolik and her granddaughter Jennifer Antolik
She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Bruce Jendreck and the wife of the late R. Bruce Simpson.
She was a life-long resident of Erie. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and then St. Benedict’s Academy.
Eleanor started working as a young girl at the Green Shingle, the Colony Restaurant, Presque Isle Plastics, and Copes-Vulcan, Inc. for many years until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Simpson Antolik (George), granddaughters Jennifer and Jessica, one great-granddaughter Elena Mae, two sisters Diane Tubbs (Arthur), Virginia Hart (Raymond), and many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, walking in the woods with her dog. She also enjoyed deer hunting with her husband and daughter.
In her later years, she belonged to many clubs and VFW’s.
Friends and family may stop by the farm on Gudgeonville Rd. for an Ascension Celebration on Saturday, October 5, 2024 for food, drinks, and a bonfire at dusk, from 5 pm until?
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Girard American Legion, 42 Wall St., Girard, PA 16417. Local arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
