Daniel Michael Parkus Carter
On Friday, September 13, 2024, after a life-time of overcoming illness, Daniel Michael Parkus Carter, passed away at the age of 39. Dan was born on December 17, 1984 and raised in Erie. As a child, he experienced an aggressive childhood cancer and the experimental treatments which he endured led to improvements in cancer treatments which have saved hundreds of children’s lives.
He attended Senecca H.S., Penn State Behrend, received a Culinary Arts Degree from Mercyhurst, NE, and a BS degree in Hotel Management from Mercyhurst University.
Dan worked passionately as a chef at Omni Hotels, Penn State, and Parkside at N.E. Dan loved cooking for family and friends and his family and friends loved every bite.
Dan was a talented musician and songwriter. He starred in many bands as a drummer, vocalist, and guitarist and played at venues all over Erie. He had a natural musical talent and was self -taught in most of his instruments; including the keyboard and trumpet.
When he wasn’t starring in the kitchen or the stage, Dan could be found on one of his seven motorcycles. He loved building, restoring, and working on motorcycles and spent nearly every day in the garage. Dan had a sharp wit and a brilliant sense of humor that will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chris Carter and will be met by a herd of pets, including his beloved dogs; George, Eight-Ball, and Hampton.
He is survived by his mother Trudy Carter, his big sister Sarah Carter, MD, and his little sister and her family; Carolyn “Foo” Carter-Kish, Jeremy Kish, and Jordan Kish. He leaves behind a loving family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, too many to name.
A Service will be held by Rev. Darin Alvis at Westminster Church, 3642 West 26th Street, Erie, on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you enjoy some music, take a long motorcycle ride, pass some kindness to someone in need, and if you have the means, make a donation to your local food bank so that everyone can enjoy the food the way Dan did. All arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie,
