Obituary of John Anderson

John Anderson John Anderson, age 76, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 8, 2024, while doing what he loved most, vacationing with the love of his life in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. John was born on November 2, 1947, in Jamestown, New York, to Arlene and Erland Anderson. John graduated from Jamestown High School. After graduation, John went on to college at Jamestown Community College, University of Buffalo (B.S., Physical Therapy), and Baylor University (Masters in Hospital Administration). During his time at Baylor University, John served in the United States Army as a Physical Therapist. He went on to serve for 21 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1990. After retiring from the Army, John moved to Erie with his wife and daughters. While in Erie, John continued to work many more years, as a Physical Therapist in multiple organizations, before retiring as the Director of Rehab Solutions and Occupational Health at AHN Saint Vincent in 2014. After his “official retirement”, he continued to help people through Home Health. John was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and brother. He was a godly man and faithful member of First Alliance Church. At FAC, he served as an Elder for several years and was involved in many other church committees. John had also been an active member of Gideon’s International. He enjoyed spending his retirement travelling with his wife across the United States, working on all the family’s cars, mowing his lawn, and making everyone around him laugh. John was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, and strangers. John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Anderson; two daughters, Betsey (Chris) Gotham and Erika (Brian) Keith; four grandchildren, Kristina, Brianna, Ethan, and Emma; and one sister, Jane Anderson. Friends may call at the First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Rd., Erie 16506 on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 4:30 pm until the time of a funeral service there at 6:30 pm.
