J. Buster Weinzierl Joseph “Buster” Weinzierl, age 77, of Millcreek Twp. and North Port, FL, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at UPMC-Hamot after an extended illness. Buster was born on October 31, 1946, to the late Joseph William and Gladys Bernadette Pigoni Weinzierl, Jr.in Pittsburgh, PA. He was raised in Pittsburgh along with his brother Michael (deceased). Buster graduated from North Allegheny H.S. in 1964. He began his college career at Penn State University and transferred to the University of Pittsburgh in 1966. Buster played basketball at both Penn State and Pitt. At Pitt he graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. His first job was with the Western Electric Co. While with Western Electric, and having been transferred to Cockeysville, MD, he attended graduate school at the George Washington University with a major in Finance. He then moved to Kewanee, IL for a job opportunity with Walworth Valve Co. Eventually he became General Plant Manager of their facility in Greensburg, PA. With a change to foreign ownership, he moved to Belknap Business Forms in Westfield, NY in 1979. As President and part owner of Belknap, he served on the Boards of various National and International Associations within the printing industry. In these associations, he served on the Boards as either Vice-President or Chairman. Also, Buster served as President of the Board for Westfield Memorial Hospital, President of the Westfield-Mayville Rotary Club, and member of the Advisory Board for the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Pittsburgh. In 1995, Buster received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Industrial Engineering Department in the Swanson School of Engineering of the University of Pittsburgh. In 2006 Buster moved full time into R & D Coatings, Inc., which he and others established in 1988. From 2011 Buster served as President of R & D. The company was sold and Buster retired in Jan. of 2020. Buster loved golf until his illness, Pitt sports (alumnus), and the Steelers. He is survived by his beloved wife Sally Ann Pavlock Weinzierl, his children: Mary H. Roeser (David), Katy Stahlman (Tim), Sarah Wilkins (Matt), Lance Young (Amanda), one step-daughter Kelly Benamati, sister-in-law Susan Weinzierl, grandchildren: Lauren Benamati, Jaelynn Ducote, Reed Benamati, Rebekah Wilkins, Timothy Stahlman, Gabriel Wilkins, Michael Stahlman, Gracelynn Young, Lance Bennett Young, and Gage Roeser. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Michael Joseph Weinzierl. Friends may call at the Millcreek Community Church, 4444 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506 on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 2 pm until the time of the Funeral Service there at 4 pm. Private interment. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1022 Liberty Street, Erie, PA 16502 or to the charity of one’s choice.
