Obituary of Robert L. Bloom

Robert L. Bloom passed away on October 19, 2024 at the age of 92 in Erie, PA. He was born on December 9, 1931. Robert, known affectionately as Bob, is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Diane (Bartlett) Bloom; daughters Lynda Klein (Howard) and Laura Bloom; stepson, David Moran (Melissa); and step grandchildren, Mason and Dylan Moran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence R. and Helen K. Bloom, and his sister, Winifred Horn.
Bob was a proud Army veteran who served during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. After his military service he embarked on a diverse career path. He worked at Westinghouse in Beaver, PA after high school graduation, followed by a partnership in a construction company with his father, “Clarence R. Bloom & Son”. He later joined Fastner Corporation (Duo-Fast Olden Company, Inc.) in Pittsburgh, where he dedicated 19 years to industrial sales covering NW Pennsylvania and Ohio. Before retiring, he also contributed five years to Barnhart Builders, Inc., Erie, PA
A 1950 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Bob’s education laid the groundwork for his varied professional and personal pursuits. His hobbies were a testament to his vibrant and active lifestyle. An enthusiast of antique cars, boats, motorcycles, and especially his Shelby Mustang, Bob also enjoyed ice skating in his younger years, being a member of both the Westminster Figure Skating Club and a Charter Member of the Meadville Figure Skating Club. His love for motorcycles saw him ride as a member of the Gold Wing Riders Association for 25 years. Bob was a talented singer and past member of the Meadville Barber Shoppers. His passion for trap and pistol shooting was evident as he was a Life Member of the NRA, Gem City Gun Club, Monroe Sportsman’s Club, and a past member of the Beaver County Rifle and Pistol Club. A private graveside service will be arranged by Dusckas Martin Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America Memorial Garden Giving Fund at 290 Turnpike Road, Suite 5-315, Westborough, MA. 05181 or online at Myasthenia.org., or Second Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Drive, Erie, PA. 16501. Bob’s life was marked by his love for his family, to whom he frequently expressed his love and appreciation. His legacy of passion, service and community involvement will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace.
