MaryLou Rawson Abbott Hamilton MaryLou Hamilton, age 81, of Fairview Twp. and Sarasota, FL, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge. She was born in Youngstown, OH on December 4, 1930, the daughter of the late, Stanley and Kathryn Gallaher Rawson. She received her Bachelor's degree from Youngstown State and two Master degrees from Edinboro College. MaryLou taught school in FL and then was employed with the Erie School District as a teacher in a number of elementary schools. She later was an Associate professor at Villa Maria College and did much extensive volunteer work at such places as; the Achievement Center (formerly the Erie Co. Crippled Children's and Learning Disabilities Center), the Sisters of St. Joseph's Community Living Center, and the Villa Maria Motherhouse. MaryLou was an active 30 year member of AA. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, skiing (water and snow), boating, and spending time with learning disabled students. She was an extremely spiritual woman who had a relationship with her higher power. She is survived by her husband, George M. Hamilton, of Fairview Twp., one son, Frederick "Rick" Abbott, of Huntington Beach, CA, one daughter, Christie Abbott of Sarasota, FL, two grandchildren, Kylee and Ashley Abbott, one sister, two step daughters, Brigette Wilson of York, PA, Georgiann "Turk" Hamilton (Jim Wronek) of Millcreek Twp., four step grandchildren: Clark and Haley Rodland and Clayton and Evan Wronek. She was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley "Bud" Rawson. Services were privately held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
