ROBERT ANTHONY GIANNELLI (BOB)
Bob passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 and was born on May 29, 1931 in Erie, the son of the late Anthony and Aurora (Polacci) Giannelli.
A graduate of Strong Vincent H.S., Bob registered for service in the Marine Corp, serving in Japan during the War in Korea. After serving in the Marine Corp, he was employed at American Meter for over 20 years and was an instructor of CNC at the Adult Learning Center of Erie County Vo Tech for over 16 years until his retirement.
Bob married Diane Boldie Kirsch on April 18, 1986, and they have enjoyed much travel in their retirement. Bob’s love for wine and all things Italy led them to travels to his home country many times, including travels to Ireland and France. But the one thing Bob Loved most was his wife, Diane.
His love of music led him to singing with Lake Erie Sound (barbershop), Maennerchor Men’s Chorus, Grotto Men’s Choir, and church choirs at Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Peace, and Asbury United Methodist Church.
Bob was member of Luther Memorial Church and a former member of Tyrian Masonic Lodge and Grotto, and the Maennerchor.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister June Berger, one son, Greg Giannelli, and one grandson, Abram Sorek.
He is survived by his beloved children: Judy Truitt (Mark), Robert Giannelli, Jr. (Tannaz) of Ann Arbor MI, Ann Giannelli Sorek (Mike), Daniel Giannelli (Laura), and daughter in law Joan Giannelli. Step daughters: Lorianne Holt of Pittsburgh, Kimberly Soder (John) of Albion, Heather Petz (Forrest), and Rachelle Eskelin. Together they have 14 Grandchildren: Jacquelyn and Jeffrey Giannelli, Hana (Robbie) Banks, Gavin Sorek, Nicholas (Becca), Anthony and Vanessa Giannelli. Step Grandchildren: Madison, Jacob and Natalie Soder, Jackson and Lily Holt, Ava and Cole Petz and 3 Great Grandsons Jackson Giannelli, Louis Banks and Lorenzo Giannelli.
He is also survived by two nephews, Johan and Ross Berger of Annville, PA.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 3 pm until 7 pm and are invited there on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11 am for the Funeral Service. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Bethany Outreach Center.
