Ian Minner
Ian Minner, age 54, of McKean PA, passed away at his home on Friday, January 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ian chose to live his life through acts of generosity and kindness, and providing for those around him. He was born in San Jose, California, to Wanda Minner Schmid and the late Eugene Minner. He moved to Erie in 1977. He loved to play and coach soccer, play softball and video games, watch football; especially the Raiders and Penn State, he loved watching movies, going camping, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. He went to McDowell High School and Penn State Behrend. His first job was at JC Penney with his mom, he also worked at Olive Garden, and gained many close friends from that job. He then worked for Volgstadt Builders, learning the construction trade from his father-in-law and went on to start IM Construction working as a contractor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Tracie Volgstadt Minner, his children; Halle, Olivia, and Caleb Minner. His mother Wanda Schmid, his sisters; Micki LaJohn (Ron) and Kellee Minner (Frank), Sherri Daugherty (John), Kim Knappenberger (Lon), Rachel Burr (Chuck), his brother Scott Minner, his step sisters; Cindy, Kate, Ellen, Gretchen, and Joey, his in-laws Bud and Joanne Moyer and Kathy Volgstadt. And by many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends we considered family. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene Minner, stepfather Bill Schmid and father-in-law Richard Volgstadt.
