Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Rebecca Matczak

Elizabeth "Betty" Rebecca Matczak (1931-2025) Elizabeth "Betty" Rebecca Roberts Matczak, age 93, went to be with her Lord Monday, January 6, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Born August 22, 1931 in Indiana, PA she was the daughter of late Ralph Roberts and Helen Smith Roberts. Though most of her years were spent in Erie, she relocated to her daughter’s North Carolina home in 2012. Betty was employed at Marx Toys, soldered at GE in Erie, PA, and retired from housekeeping at Days Inn Hotel, Summit Twp. Betty loved to ride snowmobiles and was a member of Wales Snow Drifters. She had a reputation for daring endeavors, earning the well-deserved nickname, Betty Bam-a-lam! Betty loved to travel. Taking spur of the moment road trips across the United States was not uncommon. She was always ready for the next adventure. She also engaged in quieter pursuits, often working long hours on her counted cross-stitching and spending summer months in her yard creating beautiful landscapes. She loved her cats, enjoyed caring for them and watching them play! Betty lived a quiet faith and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Erie, PA. Betty will be dearly missed by her children, Larry Matczak (Patti) of Erie, Pa, late daughter Diane Wilamowski (Joe) of Erie, PA, Linda Wilamowski (Dave) of Wattsburg, PA, Susan Howe (late husband, Chris) of Cincinnati, OH, and Cindy Cairns (Tom) of Mocksville, NC; and 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her special North Carolina friend, Tammy Pearson. Betty was preceded in death her husband, John Matczak; by sisters, Agnes Eckert and Gloria Jean Boozer; brothers, Edward Roberts and Allen Boozer; daughter, Diane Wilamowski; son-in-law, Christopher Howe; grandson, Ryan Matczak; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Wilamowski. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Friday, January 17th, from 11 am until the time of the Funeral Service there at 1 pm.
