Charles C. Hassell Charles C. Hassell, age 84, of Springhill Apts., Millcreek Twp., died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Forestview Nursing Home after a 15 year battle with leukemia. He was born on June 25, 1925 in Washington, D.C., the son of the late, Calvin Woodard and Annie Laurie Clark Hassell. He was an Erie area resident since 1957. He was employed at U.S. Steel, Oil Well Supply Co. in Oil City, Parkersburg Rig and Reel Co., and Hammermill Paper Co. until his retirement after 32 years of employment. He was active in the engineering department. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Schott Hassell of Millcreek, one daughter, Kathleen Hassell Theobald (Patrick) of Lakewood, OH, one son, Daniel Hassell (Ellen Carnahan) of Harrisburg, PA, five grandchildren: Benjamin, Rose, and Lydia Hassell, and Elizabeth and Mary Theobald. He was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Clark Hassell. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service there at 4:00 p.m. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Suite 244, Erie, PA 16501 in recognition of their loving care to Charles. The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Mirone and his nurse, Bridget, for their loving care and the Regional Cancer Center particularly the chemo nurses. Enhance your memorial with a slideshow and video
