Obituary of Joel Hodges

Joel E. Hodges Joel E. Hodges, age 67, of Millcreek Twp. died Friday, December 14, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Erie, PA on February 7, 1940, the son of the late, Elwell J. and Dorothy A. DeCoursey Hodges. Joel was a 1958 graduate of Harborcreek High School and proudly served in the US Air Force and National Guard. He was employed at Pitney Bowes for 31 years as a service representative until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace R. C. Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved boating and building model railroads for his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary J. Gulbranson Hodges. Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn M. Luke and her husband, Jeffery, of Waterford, Cheri A. Brown and her husband, Brad, of Erie, one sister, Roberta Buckel and her husband, John, of Summit Twp., one brother, Russ Hodges and his wife, Karen, of Ellensburg, WA, a sister-in-law, Patricia Vanic, of Holly Hill, FL, four grandchildren: Jesse Joel Luke, Grandpa's brown eyed girl, Julia L. Luke, Jacob M. and Daegan Joel Brown, an aunt and uncle, Theresa and Herbert Tufts, and several nieces and nephews. One infant son preceded him in death. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and are invited to Our Lady of Peace R. C. Church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
