Nan MacDonald Hoffman
Nan MacDonald Hoffman, 88, a lifelong resident of Erie, died Monday afternoon, April 22, 2013, at Pleasant Ridge West following a short illness. She was born in Erie, February 7, 1925, daughter the late Donald and Estella Deitzel MacDonald.
She was a volunteer at the Senior Center of Meadville for several years. Nan attended Strong Vincent High School and Stephens College. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, movies, shopping and reading. She would read obituaries and joked that she wished hers could read that she was an avid bungee jumper or that she was a wonderful ice skater and practiced her triple axles on the pond behind her house. But truth be told, she was the BEST MOM EVER! Anyone who ever met her always remembered how special she was!
Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Earl Hoffman, three brothers, William, Donald and Allen MacDonald and son in law Ken(Ace) Oleson.
Survivors include three daughters, Barb Oleson and Julie Struchen, both of Erie and Elizabeth(Beth) Steuernagel and her husband William(Billy) of Glenshaw, PA and one son, Martin Hoffman of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
There will be a private service. Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 4216 Sterrettania Road is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
