Thomas J. Hollister
Thomas J. Hollister, age 67, of Erie, died October 31, 2009 at the VA Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Erie on January 21, 1942 to Winifred Hollister.
Tom wed Grace R. (Ross) Hollister on August 7, 1963. During their 46 year marriage, Tom was a devoted spouse. Tom was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a crane operator at Erie General Electric and also worked in security at Electric Materials. At the time of his death, he worked at Sam's Club as a door greeter. In addition to his wife, Grace, Tom leaves behind his mother-in-law, Angeline Ross, of Erie, his sister-in-law, Connie Vetera (Bob), of NC, brother-in-law, Joseph Ross, of Fairview, nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dog and best pal, Molly. Tom was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Ross and sister-in-law, Debra Ross.
Tom was a member of the CYS Club, the Erie Maennerchor Club, and the American Legion Post 571. Tom was a marvelous wood crafter, but his greatest gift was helping others. He was always there to help his family and friends that needed a hand. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Tom's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to family, neighbors, and friends who have helped during this difficult time, especially, Jen Hills, Howard and Lucille Taylor, Doug Kern, Betsy and Frank Stora, and Sister Bernadine. Tom would be so grateful that so many have been so kind to him and his wife during his illness.
