Margaret A. Wells Johns
Margaret A. Johns "Margie" "Maggie", age 86, of Millcreek Twp. and Gulfport, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in Johnstown, PA after a brief illness. She was born in Erie on February 25, 1926, the daughter of the late Thomas M. and Virginia L. McCall Wells, Sr.
She graduated from Millcreek High School in 1945. She was employed as a teacher's aide in the Millcreek School District and Haibach's Grocery Store in Belle Valley. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, the Gulfport Presbyterian Church, the Lions and Lioness Club, and was a volunteer for the Erie Blind Center. She enjoyed her family, flower gardening, travel, crossword puzzles, baking, and music.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd E. Johns, four daughters: Kathleen Sturtevant (Thomas) of Girard, Jacquelyn Dietsch (Thomas) of Fairview, Peggy Hoff (Thomas) of Midland, MI, Priscilla Johns of Millcreek Twp., two brothers; Thomas M. Wells, Jr. (Deborah), James R. Wells (Maria), eleven grandchildren: Jessica Decker, Rebecca Gerken, Benjamin and Nicholas Sturtevant, Erica Coe, David and Craig Evanoff, Nathan and Zachary Dietsch, Emily Goodell, and Christopher Hoff, eleven great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Ann Hanchin, and an infant son, David M. Johns.
Margaret was a very kind, wise, and warm woman. She loved her family dearly and was always there to give help and love. She had a great sense of humor, was an uncannily good judge of character, and above all accepted everyone for who they were; choosing to focus on the positive. She was loved by all who met her.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Brian Moran. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
