Sandra Fuhrman Balos

Sandra Fuhrman Balos, 63, of Erie, died September 5, 2008 at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center.

She was born April 2, 1945, in Erie, daughter of Helen Vogelhuber Fuhrman and the late Arthur A. Fuhrman. She was a graduate of Academy High School and attended Edinboro University.

Most recently she was the secretary at Vernondale Elementary School. Previously she held secretarial positions at McDowell High School and at Fuhrman-Brown Tool Corp. She also worked as a teller at Union Bank and Marine Bank.

Sandra was a devoted mother and grandmother. Sandra performed in several Erie Playhouse productions and also enjoyed helping backstage. She loved music and spent several years singing with the Lake Erie Concert Choir. Making beach glass jewelry, painting with watercolor and sewing projects were some of her many artistic talents. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur A. Fuhrman. Survivors include her mother, Helen Volgelhuber Fuhrman; five children, Lynette Will and her husband, Robert of Pittsburgh, Ann Marie Ernst and her husband, Todd of Erie, Kathryn Nusbaum and her husband, Robert of Pittsburgh, Thomas Balos and his wife, Maria of Erie and Debra Balos, D.O. of Dayton, Ohio; a brother Garrett A. Fuhrman and his wife, Peggy of Erie; and eleven grandchildren and many dear friends.

Friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Road, on Wednesday, Sept. 10th at 4:30 pm. Rev. Janet Marvar will be officiating. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. will be handling arrangements.
