Frances H. Jones Frances H. Jones, age 104, of Millcreek and formerly of Ripley, NY, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge after a brief illness. She was briefly employed at General Electric before marrying and working as a housewife. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a past member of Columbine Chapter No. 260 OES and Jethra White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 12. She was also a member of the CHOSEN Mission Project. Her long time good friends and neighbors, Bud and Mary Lou Lewis, frequently took her to church and to other activities. She was a wonderful seamstress and loved to sew and crochet. She made comforters and numerous and varied sewn items as gifts. She was always involved in craft projects such as Christmas decorations, shell jewelry, and wall hangings. Like her mother before her, she was a wonderful cook and tried to accommodate each person's likes and dislikes. In earlier years she and her family were heavily involved in canning and preserving the summer crops. Her basement was lined with shelves to hold her various canned vegetables, fruit juices, relishes, catsup, jams, jellies, and canned meats. Her husband, Grover Edward Jones; son, Donald F. Jones; two sisters, Eleanor Wood and Marjorie Collins; and a nephew, Bill Collins, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Larry D.
