Obituary of Claire Jones

Claire A. Jones Claire A. Smith Jones, age 87, of Erie, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after an extended illness. She was born in Erie on April 30, 1923, the daughter of the late, John and Lena Pape. She was a member of the Catholic faith and raised in St. Patrick's Church and School. She was known for her cooking, hospitality, her singing voice and was named Miss Photogenic in Erie in 1944. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Smith, her second husband, Eugene Jones, and three sisters; Mary McKinney, Josephine Malvarose, and Christine Rubin. She is survived by three daughters; Judith Wahlenmayer (Michael) of Beaver Falls, Holli Herron (Terry) of Millcreek Twp., Melody Perdian (Bernard) of Hermitage, PA, one sister, Anne Pape of Erie, two brothers, John Pape (Vera) of Erie, Robert Pape (Irma) of Detroit, MI, four grandchildren: Scott Herron (Kim) of Erie, Christine Szklenski (Aric) of McKean, Emily Menosky (Bryan) of Concord, NC, and Madeline Perdian of Hermitage and five great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service there at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 130 East 4th St. Erie, PA 16507.
