Robert "Bob" Baran
Robert "Bob" Baran, age 57, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center after surgery complications. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Erie on July 20, 1957, the son of the late, Michael and Josephine Truchanowicz Baran.
He attended Sacred Heart grade school, was a 1972 graduate of Cathedral Prep, and attained his Bachelor's Degree at Penn State University in 1976. He was employed at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage as a mortgage consultant. He was a charter member of Conneaut Lake Lion's Club, past President of the American Institute of Bankers-Erie Chapter, member of the Small Business Alliance, Erie Sales Club, Chairman of the Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament Committee, 8 Ball Bowling League at Rolling Meadows, Two Timers League at Eastway Lanes, and the Thursday night Erie Insurance Golf League at Elk Valley. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, fishing, and music.
He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Nancy and Ed McCallion, and one nephew, Patrick T. McCallion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marybeth McCallion Baran, married on July 9, 1988, one brother, Michael (Mick) Baran, of Richmond Heights, OH, one sister, Carol Fron (Jim), of Delran, NJ, nephews: Steve Baran, Eric and Shawn Flecken, Marc and Adam DiNicola, Kevin, Brian, and Keith McCallion, Jacob and Jordan Jaskiewicz, nieces: Erin Carroll, Christa Fattizzo, Diane Blarr, Colleen Myrick, Lindsey Jaskiewicz, Sarah Goodwin, Stephanie Manson, sisters-in-law, Kathy (Tony) DiNicola, Patty (Gary) Jaskiewicz, brothers-in-law, Ed (Mary) McCallion, Tim (Anne) McCallion, one uncle, Henry Truchanowicz (Dorothy) , one aunt, Ann Will, many wonderful friends, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and are invited there on Tuesday for prayers at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Jude R.C. Church, 2801 West 6th Street, at 9:30 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Greater Erie Area Habitat for Humanity, 413 East Ninth Street, Erie, PA 16503.
