Obituary of Shirley Kiehlmeier

Shirley Ida Gertrude Becker Kiehlmeier Shirley Ida Gertrude Becker Kiehlmeier, age 84, was called home to be with the Lord on April 10th, 2013 following a brief illness. She was born February 26, 1929 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the third child of the late Charles and Marie (Weschler) Becker. Following her graduation in 1947 from Saint Benedict's Academy, she enrolled in The Saint Vincent School of Nursing, graduating in 1950. She began her career with The Visiting Nurses Association and later was the head nurse of the Gannon University Health Center. She was a beautiful soloist who sang for numerous weddings and funerals. She was also a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church Choir for many years. On May 16th, 1953, she married the love of her life, Charles E. Kiehlmeier, who preceded her in death in February of 1991. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Becker. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Mary Anne DeCoursey (Martin), grandchildren; Emily and Jamie, and great-grandson, Christian Hutcherson; two sons; Scott Kiehlmeier (Cecelia) and grandchildren Ruth, Paul, Deborah, Sarah, and Grace of Cherry Hill, NJ, and John Kiehlmeier (Linda) of North East, PA. Also left to cherish her memory are two sisters; JoAnne Buscemi (Charles) of Erie, PA and Marian Chrostowski of Erie, PA, a brother, Charles Becker (Marguerite), of Erie, PA along with many nieces and nephews, especially Bonnie Buczynski of Harborcreek, PA. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for prayers followed by a Christian Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials in Shirley's honor may be made to Holy Family School, 1153 East Ninth Street, Erie, PA 16503.
