Cornelius Kuilman
Cornelius (Casey) Kuilman passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009. Born on March 24, 1935 in Noord Scharwoude, The Netherlands to Maarten Kuilman and Elisabeth Jacoba Kuilman- Buisman, both deceased.
His passing is devastating to his wife, Margaret, the person always in his corner for the last 33 years. His family both near and far, will miss him immensely.
He is survived by his five children: his daughter, Helene Lynch, her children Nicole and Daniel. His son, Martin Kuilman, wife Colleen, and children, Benjamin, and Lisa. His daughter, Lisa Kuilman-Bolla, husband Dan and children, Colin, Margaret, and Casey, his daughter, Teresa Kuilman-Seroke and husband Joe, his son Jason Kuilman, and his significant other Michelle Namey. He is also survived by his brother Jan Kuilman, his wife Mieke and daughters Miriam, and Hetti.
Casey emigrated from Holland to Canada in 1958 with his first wife Suzanne. A job assignment brought him to Erie in January 1973. He worked as a Professional Civil and Structural Engineer specializing in concrete and unique problem-solving and design building. His work brought him a great deal of joy and took him all over the U.S. and other countries. He took great pride in doing things uniquely "his way", professionally and personally. During the last 10 years, he was an inspiration to all who knew him as he fought many health problems. His greatest fight came during the last 2 ½ years as he tried to make people understand that he lived with a new disease named Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosing or NSF.
He is loved and will be greatly missed by a large extended family, the Nemes family of Toronto, Canada and Cleveland, Ohio: Mother-In-Law Margaret and the families of Les, Ed, Andy, Bea, Aggie, and Patty Nemes.
Calling hours will be at the Dusckas- Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., from 3-6 pm on Friday, January 9th. His funeral will be held at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday January 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations to help fund the research for Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosing Disease. Donations can be made in his name to the K.C. Kuilman fund for NSF at Erie Community Credit Union on 2165 W. 21st Street Erie PA 16502.
