Obituary of Jerry Lawrence SR

Jerry E. Lawrence, Sr. Jerry E. Lawrence, Sr., age 75, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at his residence after a courageous battle with lung cancer. His loving family was with him at the time of his death. He was born in Widemouth, WVA on May 17, 1937, the son of the late, Okey and Ella May Bird Lawrence. He was employed at and retired from South Shore Place. He was a volunteer with the VFW Burial Detail and a member of Waterford American Legion Post 285. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Jerry loved golfing, going to the casinos, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Catherine M. Geertson Lawrence, three children: Sandra May Lawrence and her fiancé, William Cenfetelli, of Erie, Jerry E. Lawrence, Jr. of Erie, William L. Lawrence (Brenna Morgan) of Erie, two sisters; Bonnie (Lawrence) Wright and Patty (Lawrence) Saunders (Earl) both of Erie, three brothers: Tom Lawrence (Margaret), Danny Lawrence (Jeannie), and Donald Lawrence (Missy) all of Erie, several grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Emma Lee (Lawrence) Turbajeski, Anna Faye (Lawrence) Tolley, and one brother, Okey Lawrence. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until time of service there at 3:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Harry Johns. Private interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen, 218 East 11th Street, Erie, PA 16503 or to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501.
