Edwin L. Markievich
Edwin L. Markievich, age 85 of Millcreek Twp., formerly of DuBois, PA, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born on April 4, 1923 in DuBois, the son of the late, Harry G. and Sophia Sadley Markievich.
He served in the 8th US Army Air Corp. and the British R.A.F. during WWII. He was employed as a locomotive engineer on the B&O R.R. in the 40's, Copes-Vulcan, and he retired from the Erie City Iron Works (Zurn Energy Division). He was a member of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church and enjoyed fishing, reading, and was an avid Penn State Football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Rice Markievich, two sons, Greg Markievich and his wife, Mary, of McKean, Eugene A. Markievich and his wife, Michelle, of St. Petersburg, FL, one daughter, Mary I. Haldi and her husband, Scott, of Millcreek, four grandchildren: Andrew, Lesley, Allison, and Alek Markievich, two great grandchildren, Braden and Audrey Markievich. One son preceded him in death, Edwin J. Markievich, one sister, Mary Miknis, and two brothers, Paul and Joseph Markievich.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 12 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Further visitation will take place in DuBois, PA at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home on Tuesday with interment at St. Catherine Cemetery.
