Charles "Charlie" A. Measel Charles "Charlie" A. Measel, age 93, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, March 06, 2012 at the Erie Veteran's Affairs Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Erie, PA on August 3, 1918, the son of the late, John and Grace Hammond Measel. He was a WWII Disabled Veteran. He was employed at the US Postal Service until his retirement. Charlie was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club, Disabled American Vets, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed reading, hunting, and socializing with his friends. He is survived by his children: Grace Schupp (Jim) of Erie, Barbara Tomlin of Erie, one sister, Katherine Martin of Erie, very special friends, Barbara and Ray Tennant of Deland, FL, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Measel, and one brother, John Measel. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd on Thursday from 5 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Veterans Affairs Medical Center Activity Fund, 135 East 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504.
