Sharon J. Belan
passes life's test…Sharon J. Stark Belan, age 62, of Millcreek Twp., died Thursday, September 24, 2009 after a courageous six year battle with ovarian cancer surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born in Erie on March 27, 1947, the daughter of the late, Lawrence E. and Ann E. Cannon Stark.
Sharon was a graduate of Harborcreek High School and she received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Edinboro University. She was a school teacher at Mill Village Elementary School. She was a member of Erie County Koinonia, Summit Twp. United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of Stephen's Ministry, a member of the Pastor's Parish Relations Committee, former president of PTA, coached soccer team, was a former cub scout leader, a member of PSEA and the local Ft. LeBoeuf Education Association. She loved to paint and was a good artist, was an avid Steelers fan, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph A Belan, two sons, Steven J. Skelly of Summit Twp., Dr. Michael A. Skelly (Sarah) of Millcreek, stepchildren: Jason A. Belan, Hallie Estepp (Vaughn), Heather Pisciotti, and Barbara Stevens, twelve grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia A. Miller (Glenn) of Harborcreek, Diane Y. Hedderick (James) of Houston, TX, sister-in-law, Marian Dominick, mother-in-law, Mary S. Belan, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Summit Twp. United Methodist Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service there at 11:00 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
