Alois J. Michalak Alois J. Michalak, age 78, of Millcreek Twp. passed away suddenly on Friday, May 4, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on January 23, 1934, the son of the late Walter and Martha Michalak. He was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church. He was employed with Zurn Energy, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Carcic Michalak, two daughters; Darlene O'Sullivan (John) of New York City, NY and Charlene Newport (Brian) of Erie, two sisters; Theresa Malinowski of Harborcreek and Evelyn Reid of Ocala, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Edwin and Richard Michalak and one sister, Irene Mitulski. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and are invited there on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for prayers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude R.C. Church at 11:00 a.m. Private interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501-1006. Enhance your memorial with a slideshow and video
