William "Bill" Mintsiveris William "Bill" Mintsiveris, age 81, formerly of Millcreek Twp. and now of Summit Twp., passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Millcreek Manor. He was born on February 7, 1931, the son of the late, Helen and James Mintsiveris. Bill was a 1949 graduate of Academy H.S. He worked with his father at the Poplar Lunch, went in the Army during the Korean War, attended Cook and Bakers School, then was stationed in Trieste, Italy and visited many of the European countries during his stay in Europe. He returned in 1953 and went to work for his father again. He met his wife, Fay, from Bradford, PA in 1954 and they were married in June of 1955. He then with his father and mother purchased the Clifton Manor on West Lake Rd. He sold it in 1976 and became the Commercial Foods Teacher at the Erie County Vo-Tech School until his retirement in 1992. Bill belonged to the Restaurant Association in the 50's and 60's, was on the board and past Vice President of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church where he was one of the founding members of the Greek Festival. He also belonged to the Elks Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to tell stories of his experiences to young people. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Mintsiveris, and one brother, Stephen Mintsiveris. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fay, two sons; James (Jody) Mintsiveris of Great Falls, MT, Dean (Vicki) Mintsiveris of Cambridge Springs, PA, one brother, Nick (Bixue) Mintsiveris of San Bernadino, CA, one sister, Anne (Tim) Brydon, of San Francisco, CA, a sister-in-law, Carole Mintsiveris, and grandchildren: Jenifer (Jon) Thomas, William (Celeste), Thomas (Toni) Mintsiveris, all of Great Falls, MT, Alexis and Anne Mintsiveris of Cambridge Springs, Beth Ann, Richard, and Karyn Yezzi, and Jennifer Munoz, all of Erie, seven great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.; Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. A Trisagion Service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 4376 West Lake Rd., on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hunt of a Life-Time Foundation, PO Box 241, Harborcreek, PA 16421 or to Asera Care Hospice, 1600 Peninsula Drive, Suite 14, Erie, PA 16505.
