Obituary of Charles Moon

Charles G. Moon, III Charles G. Moon, III, age 87, surrounded by his loving family, was welcomed into Heaven by his Lord and Savior on March 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, and dear daughter, Diane. Chuck was a devoted husband to Frances (Morse), wonderful father to Pamela (Robb) of Grosse Pointe, MI; Charles (Katherine) of Rochester, NY; Deborah (Robert) of Melbourne, FL; Elaine (William) of Audubon, NJ; and Mark, Diane's husband (Susanna) of Raleigh, NC; step-father to Robert (Denise) of Evansville, IN, and Michael of Battlecreek, MI, caring grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was born in Memphis, TN, served in the US Navy during WWII, received his electrical engineering degree from the University of Louisville, and worked at General Electric for over 40 years. He enjoyed diverse hobbies such as making champagne, woodworking, gardening, sailing, playing cards, traveling, and reading. Chuck was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, serving as a deacon and a Stephen's minister. Though he was passionate about his numerous hobbies, the roles he valued most were those of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He received the highest honor in Boy Scouts, the Silver Beaver Award. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Boy Scouts of America, 1815 Robinson Rd. West, 16509, or AseraCare Hospice, 1600 Peninsula Dr., Suite 14, 16505. Viewing will take place on Friday, March 9th at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. from 2-4 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. An additional viewing will take place on Saturday, March 10th at the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 250 West 7th Street from 9:30 to 10:00 am followed by the service.
