Priscilla Palmer MacIntire Nelson
Priscilla Palmer MacIntire Nelson of Orlando, FL, died on September 14, 2008. She was born on August 17, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late William Henry MacIntire and Alta Palmer MacIntire.
She graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls, and received a Bachelor's Degree in History from King's College, NY. On September 28, 1946, she married Kenneth E. Nelson of Erie, PA and their marriage flourished for 61 years, until his death in November, 2007. The couple had three children and Priscilla devoted much of her time, energy, and love to raising them and promoting their education. Priscilla was a teacher, and fulfilled that role during many periods of her life. She particularly loved teaching children in their early elementary-school years and did so in several geographical areas including Delaware, Pennsylvania, and 25 years in Stone Mountain, GA. An avid traveler, she journeyed with her husband and family to many parts of the US and Europe. She was particularly fond of Scotland, where she has ancestral roots, and where the family resided for two years during the 1960's.
She is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Nelson Winter, of Wayland, MA, Kristen Nelson Flaniken, of Orlando, FL, and a son, Kenneth E. Nelson, Jr. of Stone Mountain, GA. Her legacy is also continued by five grandchildren. Priscilla was an incessant reader, a vivid conversationalist, a fiercely loyal friend, and a wonderfully loving wife, mother, and grandmother. We will miss her deeply.
Funeral services will be held at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862-8200, 'In Memory of Priscilla M. Nelson'.
