Obituary of Robert Nelson

Robert B. Nelson Robert B. Nelson, age 72, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Oil City, PA on November 23, 1938. He graduated from Cathedral Prep with the Class of 1957. He was the son of the late, John and Helen Rapp Nelson. For twenty-six years Robert worked at General Motors in Framingham, MA, until the plant closed. He moved back to Erie in 1995 to take care of his mother. Most important to Bob was his family. He was an avid sports fan and he especially loved horse racing. He shared these times with his son, Robert Nelson, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Beryl Hodges Nelson, whom he married on April 12, 1958. Robert is also survived by seven children; his daughters: Christine Bockoven (Peter) of AZ, Jean Macleod (Scott) of Woburn, MA, Cynthia and her late husband, Edrick Smith, of Woburn, MA, Cheryl Christiansen (David) of Pepperell, MA, Melissa Bourassa (Timothy) of Woburn, MA, two sons; Robert Nelson, Jr. and Scott Nelson, both of Erie, three brothers: John Nelson of FL, Jim Nelson of Erie, and the late Michael Nelson of AZ. He is survived by eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was the uncle to many nieces and nephews. No visitation, private interment. Arrangements were handled by the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.
