George E. Neubert George E. Neubert, 76, died peacefully in his West Lawn residence on July 6, 2010. His wife of 47 years, Patricia M. (Rowell) Neubert, preceded him in death on April 12, 2000. He was the fiancé of Barbara A. Angstadt. Born in Osterode, East Prussia, Germany, he was the son of the late Ernst and Frieda (Karlowski) Neubert. George was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester, NY. He attended Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA, and Gannon College in Erie, PA. He served in the PA National Guard during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge, with the rank of Master Sergeant. George was a Vice President for Erie Flexlume Corp. for 33 years; he was branch manager for AMG Signs, Erie, for five years; and he was National Accounts Manager for Signature Signs, Kenhorst, from 1991 until his retirement in 2008. George was very actively involved in community activities throughout his life, volunteering many of these hours toward helping youth. He was an Eagle Scout and continued his lifelong love for scouting by serving as an Assistant Scout Master in Erie for many years. He served as Vice President of Christian Endeavor, New York State Program, and was instrumental in incorporating "Sing Out Erie" under the UP WITH PEOPLE program. He served four years on the Board of Directors at Millcreek Community Hospital, and two terms on St. Paul's Lutheran Church Council in Erie. Formerly George was Chairman of the Zoning Hearing Board and Councilman for the Borough of Womelsdorf. He also served on St. Daniel's Lutheran Church Council in Robesonia. George was a 32nd degree Mason and remained committed to the principles of the Masonic Order throughout his life. Among his many loves were hunting, fishing, gardening, and wood carving, as well as playing the bagpipes with different American and Canadian bands as a member of the Pipes and Drums of Erepa Grotto. He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his three children, Dr. A. George, husband of Mary Pat Neubert, Sinking Spring; David E., husband of Carol Neubert, Erie; and Susan M., wife of Barry Snyder, Erie. There is one sister, Elinor, wife of Dr. Robert Nicholas, Venice Beach, Florida. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Kate (Neubert), wife of Nick Murosky; Emily (Neubert), wife of Michael Pritchard; Mallory Neubert, fiancé of Glenn Kercher; Robert Neubert; Daniel Neubert; Jenny Alick; Jessica, wife of Tom Kidd; Derrick, husband of Jessica Eger; and Barry Snyder, III. There are also two great-grandchildren: Laila Murosky and Joshua Kidd. A visitation will be held at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. (Masonic service at 7:30) and are invited to St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for the funeral service.
