Susan M. Bierer
On Friday, June 12, 2009, Susan Andrews Bierer, age 54, of Erie, went home to be with her Savior. This completed her 5 ½ year adventure with cancer. Susan was a native of Erie, graduating from Strong Vincent High School in 1973. She was passionate follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as pianist and on the Bethel Christian School Board.
Susan enjoyed her job as a library clerk at the Blasco Memorial Library and enjoyed hobbies of landscaping, piano playing, and reading. As part of her adventure with cancer, Susan chronicled her experiences by e-mail and had several hundred followers as she took this journey. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and known for bringing laughter and joy into any situation by her many friends and family. She created a home that welcomed all who came through the door.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, David Andrews of McKean, PA. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dana J. Bierer, of Erie; daughter, Kristen Bierer Miles and her husband, Pastor David Miles of Stone Ridge, NY; son Pastor Douglas Bierer and his wife, Andrea Bierer of Erie; mother, Berniece Andrews of McKean; brother, David Andrews of Lancaster, PA; sister, Barbara Andrews Conley of Navarre, FL; and grandchildren Julie, Alayna, and Joel Miles, and Danika Bierer.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1781 West 38th. St. and will be conducted by Pastor David Miles and Pastor Douglas Bierer. The service will be followed by a private committal at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
