Leo E. Olszewski
Leo E. Olszewski, age 90, of McKean Twp., passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at Pleasant Ridge Manor-West. He was born in McKean Twp. on June 24, 1921, the son of the late, John and Ludwiga Michelski Olszewski.
Leo served in the US Army/Air Corp during WWII as a sergeant, specializing in airplane mechanics and gunnery. He was honorably discharged in 1943. He was self employed in construction and contracting. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament RC Church and the Auxiliary Police Force. He enjoyed crafts, fishing, square dancing, woodworking, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loretta Dzeskewicz Olszewski, his children: Dan Olszewski (Kim) of Edinboro, Elaine Shaffer (Larry) of East Springfield, Sally Silbaugh (Jim) of McKean, one sister, Dolores Volkman, of Findley Lake, NY, seven grandchildren: Diane and Dave Olszewski, Kara McGarvey, Travis and Rylee Shaffer, Heather and Matt Silbaugh, and one great grandson, Landon. He was preceded in death by one son, John A. Olszewski, four sisters: Stella Ganzer, Hattie Dobry, Marie Sarbak, Anna Benecki, and two brothers, John and Alfred Olszewski.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Tuesday for prayers at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament RC Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Francis Cemetery. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor-West and Lakeland Hospice for their care shown to their father.
