Obituary of Shirley Pemberton

Shirley Pemberton Shirley Pemberton, age 78, of Millcreek Twp., died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at her residence after a five year courageous battle against cancer. She was born on September 1, 1931 in Bagley, MN the daughter of the late, Henry and Lulu Johnson. She was an Erie area resident since 1971. Shirley received a BS Degree from the University of Minnesota. She was employed at Fulton Controls Company, was an Associate in real estate from 1974-2004, affiliated with Coldwell Banker, Select Realtors. She was a charter member and ordained elder of Church of the Cross, a member of Koinonia (K-22), and volunteered with Kairos Prison Ministry and CASA as a court appointed advocate for children. She is survived by her husband, Wayne E. Pemberton, three sons: Wayne, Jr. and John Pemberton of LA, CA and Charles Pemberton (Holly) of Middlesex, NC, two brothers; Harry Johnson of Minneapolis, MN and Robert Johnson (Mary) of Scottsdale, AZ, and one granddaughter, Sarah of Lancaster, CA. Shirley was preceded in death by one sister, Lea Youngquist and one brother, Donald Johnson. On Sunday a visitation with the family will occur at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service conducted by the Rev. David Fugate at 4:00 p.m. at Church of the Cross. The Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. handled all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Cross, 5901 Millfair Rd., Fairview, PA 16415, the Erie City Mission, 1023 French St. Erie, PA 16501, or to Chosen Mission Project, 3638 W. 26th St. Erie, PA 16506.
