Charles H. (Herlihy) Pierce Charles H. (Herlihy) Pierce, age 79, of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Presque Isle Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. He was born in Woodward, PA, on September 10, 1931, the son of the late, Clyde F. and Mary M. Pierce. Herlihy graduated from DuBois High School. In 1971, he received a diploma in Production Management from Penn State Behrend. He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Finance Committee Chairman, Steward, Men's Club President and Vice President. He was a member of Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge #362 F. & A.M. where he served as an officer for many years. Herlihy and his older brother, Andrew, were both Masters of their respective lodges in 1977. He was also a York Rite Mason. As a member of the Erepa Grotto Clown Unit, he entertained at many children's functions. He was employed as a draftsman for Erie City Iron Works/Zurn Energy Division and retired 21 years ago. He was an active member of the Zurn's Retirement Group. He enjoyed painting, golf, gardening, and being with his grandchildren and family. Herlihy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis, a daughter, Nancy Baker and her husband, Neil, of Columbia, SC, a son, Charles and his wife, Cheryl, of Erie, one brother, Andrew and his wife, Shirley, of Erie, one sister, Florence Taylor and her husband, Jim, of Falls Creek, PA, and William Johnson of Erie. He is also survived by his grandchildren: C.J. Baker, David Baker and his wife, Jackie, Matthew Baker and his wife, Pamela, Christopher Baker, Rebecca Baker, Caitlyn Pierce, Benjamin Pierce, and Theodore Pierce and a great-granddaughter, Anna Kay Baker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Lewis, Irwin, and Scott Pierce and his sister, Sue Ella Johnson, and his sister-in-law, Frances R. Pierce. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge #362 will hold a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 2615 West 32nd St. with the Rev. Michelle Wobrak officiating. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, PA 16505 or to Christ United Methodist Church, 2615 West 32nd St., Erie, PA 16506.
