Thurman Potter, Jr.


Thurman Potter, Jr., "J.R.", age 75, of Millcreek Twp. died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 after a brief illness. He was born on January 1, 1934 the son of the late Thurman Potter, Sr. and Daisy Little Potter.


He was a life-long Erie area resident. He owned and operated Potter Construction and was then employed at DeMarco Construction. He belonged to the following clubs: South Erie Turn Verein, East Erie Turners, Sunflower Club, South End Benefit Association, American Bowling Congress, American Legion, and the Siebenbuerger Club. He enjoyed bowling.


Thurman is survived by three sons: Neal and his wife, Sally, Thomas and his wife, Patricia, Dale and his wife, Vicki, two daughters; Jeannette and her husband, Robert Blose, Cheryl and her husband, Gary Prescott, daughter-in-law, Heidi Potter, two sisters; Ardella and Conrad Friedman, Valoney and Thomas Watson, two brothers; Daily Potter and Jack Potter and his wife, Dee Dee, eight grandchildren, one great - grandchild, a very special friend, Norma Casey, and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Potter, one son, Stephen Potter, one brother, Jess Potter, four sisters: Ruby Wolf, Marcella Perez, Pallie Morris, and Fredonia Malone.


Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and are invited there on Friday at 10:00 a.m. for the funeral service conducted by the Rev. David McIlvried. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Erie Presbyterian Lodge, 2628 Elmwood Ave., Erie, PA 16508 or to Sylvia's House, 2897 SE 62nd St., Ocala, FL 34480.
