J. Kevin Quinn
J. Kevin Quinn died on Saturday, December 22, 2007, at the Erie Veteran's Affairs Medical Center. He was born in DuBois, PA on December 29, 1934, the son of the late, Richard K. and Gene Smith Quinn.
Kevin was a graduate of East High School where he received letters for four years in four sports. He earned a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin where he played freshman football. An injury ended his football career and he finished his education at Gannon College. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and served at a Nike Missile site. Upon discharge, he returned to his alma mater as an accountant and spent 30 years there, retiring in 2000 as the Vice President of Finance. Many students over the years credit him with keeping them in school and earning a degree.
Kevin was active in community affairs in Millcreek, most notably the MYAA where he served as Treasurer, along with several other positions. He developed the MYAA basketball program.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Olga Lasko Quinn, and his children: Tim and his wife Maria, of Fairview, Tammy Dey and her husband, David, of San Antonio, TX, Sue and her husband, Tim Harriger of N. Huntingdon, and Dan of Pittsburgh. He is further survived by nine grandchildren: T.J. and Donnie Quinn, Michael and Dylan Dey, Nate and Sam Harriger, and Gia, Dani, and Alex Quinn.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Saturday for a prayer service at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia's R. C. Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gannon University General Scholarship Fund, 109 University Square, Erie, PA 16501.
