Obituary of Nancy Rogers

Nancy J. Zill Rogers Nancy J. Zill Rogers, age 66, of Millcreek Twp., died Tuesday, April 26, 2007 at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Erie, on April 29, 1940, the daughter of the late William M. Zill, Sr. "No-No" (2002) and Catherine Hetman Zill (1977). She was a 1958 graduate of Academy High School. Nancy was employed at Hamot Hospital and was a bookkeeper for Dauer Wholesale, and then she began employment with the Millcreek Twp. School District on December 3, 1973, until her retirement after 32 years of service on July 10, 2005. She held the positions of Librarian and Educational Assistant. She was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary at the Siebenbuerger Club and was the former President of Chestnut Hills Elementary School's PTA. In March of 2003, Nancy was awarded the Millcreek Twp. School District Employee of the month. Over her 32 years of educational service she had always enjoyed working with all the children. Wherever she would travel she would frequently meet former parents and students. Nancy was an avid Amish collector and enjoyed going to craft shows, camping, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Donald D. Rogers, who died on July 1, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard A. Totleben in 2002. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Elaine M. Duncan, and her husband, Tedd, of Millcreek Twp. Also surviving are two sisters, Catherine Totleben of Girard, Janet Bojarski and her husband, James, of North East, twin brothers, William M. Zill, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Fairview, Robert G. Zill and his companion, Mary Alice Ross, of Erie, eleven favorite nieces and nephews; including her Godson, Daniel Bojarski, 17 great nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew, many cousins, many `close friends, and her grand dog, Kearsarge Flame Duncan. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there on Wednesday for the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kearsarge Fire Dept., 4930 West St., Erie, PA 16509, Millcreek Paramedic Service, 3608 West 26th St., Erie, PA 16506, or the Humane Society, 2707 Interchange Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
