Obituary of Stanley Rysz

Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stanley P. Rysz Stanley P Rysz, 83, devoted father and husband, passed away in Zephyrhills, FL on April 19, 2010 where he had resided since December 2004. He was born in Centerville, PA on October 6, 1926 the youngest of four children to Peter & Louise Rysz. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Fannie; three children: daughter, Davida Hollands of Erie, son, Stanley & Denise Rysz of Pelion, SC, and daughter Elaine & Jeff Eckerson, Lutz, FL. Seven grandchildren: Denise Chappell (Mechanicsburg, PA), Casey, Erin & Bobbi Jo Hollands (Erie), Dallas Eckerson (Tampa, FL), Gary Peterson (Erie), and April Langley, (Navarre, FL). Eight great-grandchildren: Savannah & Blake Chappell, Alex & Andy Eckerson, Annabelle Langley, Chase Peterson, Alex & Ashlee Hollands, and his sister, Felicia and her husband Vince Zabrocki, of Garfield Ht., OH. Also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Adeline, a brother Leon Rysz, and a son-in-law Michael Hollands. He was a long time resident of Erie where he was employed at Bucyrus Erie for 37 years and retired in 1983 as machine shop superintendent. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a veteran of the US Army. Stan enjoyed being with and joking with family and friends. People will remember his hearty laugh at the crack of some ones spontaneous wit. In his younger day he was always one for a few hours fishing or hunting for the joy of being with friends rather than for the purpose of getting the fish or the game. He was always one for trying something new; from designing and building a cabinet to learning how to ride trail bikes or nurturing a lemon tree. His knowledge of machining and machines and people was vast and he was respected by many for it. He was also kind and soft spoken. Seldom did he utter anything but encouragement and praise. The good he brought to the people around him could fill volumes and his life shows Gods work in the world. One word describes this man. Magnificent! Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and are invited there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. for prayers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, 12902 Magnolia Drive, UTC-Found, Tampa, FL 33612 or The American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, PA 16505.
