Obituary of Robert Scarpitti

Robert M. Scarpitti Robert M. Scarpitti, age 93, of Erie, died Monday, September 21, 2009 at St. Mary's West at Asbury Ridge. He was born on July 27, 1916 in Butler, PA, the son of the late, Rev. Fortunato and Victoria Grigoletti Scarpitti. He attended Edinboro State Teacher's College and received his Masters of Literature in 1942 from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a school teacher in the Erie School District and an elementary school principal at various elementary schools. He finished his career at Project Individual-the Model Middle School. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He had a great love of family and enjoyed sports. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Shaner Scarpitti in 2002, two brothers, Dr. William Scarpitti and Atty. Richard Scarpitti. He is survived by three sons: Robert C. Scarpitti and his wife, Peggy of Millcreek, Thomas M. Scarpitti and his wife Kristine, of Erie, and James R. Scarpitti and his wife Susan of Edinboro, PA and his grandchildren: Kathryn Scarpitti, Michael Scarpitti and his wife, April, Cara Buis and her husband, Pete, and Mark Scarpitti. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday for the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Private interment Laurel Hill Cemetery.
