Rose Ann Schoen
Rose Ann Schoen, age 87, formerly of Millcreek Twp., died Friday, August 31, 2007 at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge. She was born February 5, 1920 in Duryea, PA, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary Bertha Kelly.
Mrs. Schoen was a life long resident of the Erie area. She was a member of St. Julia Roman Catholic Church where she belonged to the Rosary Society. She was a member of Millcreek Lakewood P.T.A. for many years, and also a member of the Penn Shore Square Dance Club. She enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, golfing and camping. In her later years she traveled to every state in the union. She also visited her father's homeland in Ireland twice while in her seventies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lavern H. "Whitey" Schoen on September 20, 2004, one daughter, Joyce M. Weschler on November 11, 1999, also four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Janice A. Scopel and her husband Drew of Millcreek, two sons, Roy H. Schoen and his wife Kiki of Fairview, Roger L. Schoen and his wife Dana of Millcreek. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Mark, Todd, and Heidi Weschler, Andrew and Katie Scopel, David and Becky Schoen, Jack Schoen, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, Erie, PA 16506 on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited there on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. for a prayer service followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
