Robert P. Schreiber
Robert "Tiny" Schreiber, age 86, a lifelong Erie resident, died February 20, 2008, at his home. He was born June 22, 1921, the son of the late Junia Scott and George Schreiber. Bob attended Millcreek High School and was employed 41 years at Lord Corporation, retiring in 1981 as a supervisor.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Charles Schreiber. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, June Grames Schreiber, whom he married on November 20, 1943 in Conway, S.C. while serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. He is further survived by two daughters, Nancy Gurga (Zig), Erie, Nadine Davis (Bill), Rutledge, Tenn., and one son, Gary Schreiber (Mary), Erie, grandchildren: Deanna Smith (Chuck), Stephen Gurga (Jennifer), Erica Mullins, Jason Mullins, and great grandchildren: Thomas, Taylor, Dustin, Dillon and Erika.
He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII and was a decorated veteran of the Okinawa Campaign. Bob was past commander of American Legion Post 773, a West Lake Fire Department volunteer for many years, and a member of the Elks and Zukor Clubs. He was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Bob and June traveled extensively and particularly enjoyed reunions with members of the 6th Division China Marines.
Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, on Friday, February 22, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited there at 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. John Erthein presiding. Interment Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501 or the charity of one's choice.
